Hastings Area Archaeological Research Group was founded in 1972 to enable those with an interest in local archaeology and history to take an active part in discovering and recording our district's past. 

                 HAARG JOURNAL - SUMMARY OF PRINCIPAL CONTENTS

HAARG Journal began in 1979 and was issued at intervals under a variety of titles until 1987. From this date until 1992 a number of reports were issued as individual titles without numbering. Most of these early issues are out of print, but a few are available and copies of all are held in the Group's library. 

The "New Series" began in 1995 and No.1 contained a bibliography of all previous publications and a subject index of local articles in them. Issues 1 and 2 were edited by Rod Lavers supported by an Editorial Panel; Issues from 3 onward have been edited by David Padgham; each consists of 20 pages.
