Based at Rye Harbour in East Sussex the fishery covers 100 acres of still water created by gravel extraction between 1930 and 1970.
Stocking began in mid 50's with roach, rudd, catfish, carp, and trout. These stocks were expanded with tench, dace, perch and bream, with the objective of producing good stocks for the matchmen.
Run originally as a match and club venue able to peg out for matches up to 300 anglers, the increasing interest in carp fishing has seen the establishment of two carp syndicates on the water.
The Little Nook is a 30 peg venue with stocks of small carp, roach, rudd, bream and perch and is an ideal day water for the leisure angler.
The Moorhen Lake is designed for the leisure carp angler with stocks of commons and mirrors up to 25lbs, as well as bream, roach and rudd.
The Nook is a true match venue able to peg out 100+ for roach, rudd, bream, dace, eels and carp. This lake has become a regular venue for opens and for league matches. The carp are mainly commons bred from a strain introduced in the 1960's and go to 30's.
The Ocean is 50 acres and reserved for the syndicate members, the commons are 30+ with a mirror about to touch 40 lbs.
Day tickets are available from all good local tackle shops and from the village shop in Rye Harbour. There is a café open to anglers opposite the RNLI building and at the Holiday village in Rye Harbour. .
