Hastings Fishermens Museum - The Enterprise

"The Enterprise", RX278 was built in 1912 by Tom Betts in the Old harbour shed near where today's fishmarket stands, at a cost of £700, for fish salesmen Tom and Jack Adams.
Her first skipper was Richard "Grizzle" Phillips, who had the unfortunate distinction of almost losing her on one of her first trips, when she collided with the east wall of Rye Harbuor in a gale on November 26th 1912, although without damage.
Harold Pepper bought the Enterprise from the Adams family in 1944 and presented her to the planned Fishermens museum in 1955, shortly after she became too old for fishing.

The dimensions of the Enterprise are:-
27.9 ft keel, 29.1 ft registered length
11.8 ft beam & 4.6ft depth, Gross tonnage is 11.44
