ANOTHER SPECIAL EVENT! - Hastings Lifeboat on the streets of Hastings in our Carnival Parade!! - Life boat forms up on the A259 West of the Stade Coach Park at about 17-35/40Hrs and travels the route about 30 Metres ahead of our leading Carnival Court Float. The width & height of the vessel won't allow its passage into High St.and All Saints St. So it will return via the "Round-a-bout Pelham Place and return to base.

Exhibition of sculptures and casts by local artist, Marc Selby. His powerful torsos and heads carved directly from English stone are Renaissance inspired, the expression is unmistakably of this century. Our usual terracotta pottery will make room to display handbuilt bowls and vases in porcelain and stoneware by local ceramic artist, Helen Drake. Her work is delicate and organic in form as she aims to achieve a translucency in the material. Donations, however, are gratefully accepted on behalf of OHPS.

‘ HASTINGS DELIGHT' by Turel Sut
St Mary in the Castle, Pelham Place
A panel fresco exhibition reflecting the harmony of Hastings, depicting events or people who have had a significant impact on the town, such as Elizabeth Blackwell, John Logie Baird, Thomas Brassey, Grey Owl, the Old Roar Gill Coronation Waterfalls and the original look of Hastings Castle. Turel Sut was born in Izmir , Turkey in 1972. At the age of eighteen he successfully entered Dokuz Eylul University in Turkey and studied fine art, working alongside Professor Zeki Karcioglus in his fresco studio as a professional artist. Turel has worked on commissions from the public, corporate and private sectors and now works from his workshop in Hastings .

Coming from a family of painters, Juliette Dodd trained as a figurative sculptor at the Sir Henry Doulton School of Sculpture under the patronage of Dame Elizabeth Frink. She works in both 2D and 3D, specialising in portraits in all mediums and recent sitters include Michael Foster MP and John Ryan, author of Captain Pugwash. She has a series of teaching articles currently being published in The Leisure Painter magazine and holds monthly portrait workshops.

The Country Park preserves the beautiful cliffs and glens between the Old Town and Fairlight, including the East Hill, where there was a settlement long before Hastings came into being. Find out more from a talk by Steve at the top of the East Hill Lift followed by a walk to the east side of Ecclesbourne Glen, then back to the Old Town via Barley Lane . Not suitable for toddlers or the disabled. Wear stout footwear. Supported by the Friends of Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve. £3 per person.
