Carnival 2001

This years' theme is "Millennium Memories"

The AGM of the Hastings Old Town Carnival Association was held at the Jenny Lind on 26th November 2000. Ken Taylor was re-elected as chair, Peter Gould as vice-chair, Babs Muggridge as Secretary, Ray Hafseth as treasurer. The theme for the year 2001 Carnival was decided , "Millennium Memories"  and the carnival will take place on Friday 10th August 2001, starting at 7pm. The route will be the same as the 2000 carnival  - see below. The meeting was rounded off with a trip round the town on Happy Harold, Hastings' 1928 open top trolleybus,  courtesy of the Hastings Trolleybus Restoration Group.

Carnival Programme Cover and Poster Competition

9 year old Frankie of Sandown School produced the winning design for the Hastings Old Town Carnival Week programme cover. This design will also be used for Hastings Old Town Carnival Week Posters

18th June, The Mayor of Hastings, Cllr. Jackie Dowling, assisted by Rachel Pearson from Hastings Community Arts and Ion Castro, the Old Town Carnival webmaster, choose the winning entries. Simon and Louise, both 11 years old and also from Sandown School, came second and third.

13th July, Frankie's lucky day - At Sandown School he receives his prize from the Carnival Association's treasurer, Ray Hafseth while Carnival secretary Babs Muggridge shows some of the programmes.
