Hastings Old Town Carnival News 2017 |
26th November 2017 - Hastings Old Town Carnival Donations Evening. Hastings Old Town Carnival Committee were delighted to hand out donations to nineteen separate charities at their annual donations evening on 26th November at EHSAA. The mayor cllr. Judy Rogers and Deputy mayor Nigel Sinden supported the evening. HOT-C president Bill Wickings handed out the cheques. Each receiving charity described how they would put the money to good use and explained the work that their volunteers do and how crucial the help they give to needy in the community is. The money was raised in Old Town Week in the summer by the hugely popular Pram Race and the much loved Old Town carnival which ends the events of the week. Chair Keith Leech thanked the hard work of the committee and looked to the future. New plans are underway for updating the Carnival and making it bigger. He announced that from 2018 Court will be gender free. Next year marks the Carnival’s 50th and is celebrating with Happy Harold’ s 90th. It is hoped that more floats, more costumes, more groups and more collectors will make 2018 a year to remember and will help even more charities. The rounded off with the ever popular grand raffle led by Bruce Dowling. |

Winning Entries in the Hastings Old Town Carnival 2017 Thanks to all the entrants the standard was very high and hopefully will encourage others to join in. It's a good opportunity for the prams to be seen by people in the daylight and we would like to see more cap-grossos (big heads) like the Popeye face in the Popeye tribute section.
