Why Hastings Week?

Message from the Mayor

As another Hastings Week is upon us, I would like everyone to come along and support the events we have planned for this year. There is such a variety, there is we hope, something for everyone to enjoy.

Unfortunately, last year we lost our Chairman Gordon Hobson unexpectedly, but have carried on as, we believe, he would have wanted us to.

So many people have worked so very hard and long to get as many events as possible into the week, and each year we try to add new ones, widening the support and interest of everyone, so please come along and support us, and meet both me and my deputy Cllr. Peter Armstrong during the week. There are now, in actual fact 10 days of entertainment for all to enjoy, so come and support us, and enjoy yourselves, and support our wonderful Town and in the process raise funds for next year.

Councillor Maureen Charlesworth
Mayor

A note from the Chair

Summer has now gone, and Hastings Week is with us once more, celebrating the 942nd Anniversary of the Battle of Hastings.

This year's programme is the biggest and best yet with nearly 100 events, with something to interest everyone from Classic Cars to Belly Dancers and Horror Walks.

The Hastings Week programme is produced by a small dedicated committee of volunteers, who meet regularly throughout the year, giving up their free time to keep Hastings Day alive.

My thanks to the Committee for their hard work, and for the support of Hastings Borough Council without whom we could not produce this extensive programme of events.

Ian Porter
Hastings Week Chair
